Abstract

The article is dedicated to the study of a neofolklore trend representing one of the most vivid style tendencies in the Russian music of the second half of the 20th century in the context of cinema and literature development. The analysis of folk song sources in composers’ works is focused on two aspects: the choice of folk genres and methods of work. The whole range of folk music genres starting from the archaic calendar-ceremonial genres to more recent, modern ones (chastushki) are in the focus of composers. A special place in the composer's work belongs to the lamentation genre. There are three main tendencies in the author's approach to folk material: 1) the re-creation of folklore genre, 2) the subordination of the folk genre to individual artistic conception, 3) the interaction and synthesis of folk and non-folk.
