KINETICS OF ENOLIC FORM OF URACIL AND 6-METHYLURACIL INTERACTION WITH HYDROGEN PEROXIDE

Abstract

Kinetics of enolic form of uracil and 6-methyluracil interaction with hydrogen peroxide in water have been studied. By monitoring the variation of the concentration of the materials investigated, the authors found that the reaction is the first-order one with respect to the uracil and hydrogen peroxide concentration. The bimolecular rate constants of this reaction were determined from the received experimental data: k=(1.1±0.8)×10-1 mol·l–1·s–1 for uracil and k=(1.9±0.3)×10-1 mol·l–1·s–1 for 6-methyluracil. Temperature dependence of the rate constant was studied in the temperature ranging from 333 to 363 К. The activation parameters of the reaction of uracils and hydrogen peroxide were determined from the Arrhenius equation. The results indicate that the reactivity of the enolic form of uracils is higher than the reactivity of their ketone form.
