Abstract

Korzhinsky licorice (Glycyrrhiza korshinskyi Grig.) is one of promising endemic species of Bashkir TransUrals. The territory of these plants growing is characterized by extremely high plasticity in soil ions of various heavy metals, including copper ions. We have studied Korzhinsky licorice plants grown in vivo at Bashkir TransUrals on soils with different content of copper ions. The data is shown about the general content and antioxidant activity of flavonoids in Korzhinsky licorice roots and values of dependence of these parameters on the content of copper ions in licorice plants roots. It is revealed that the increase in the content of endogenous copper leads to high plasticity of accumulated flavonoids. It is found that the dynamics of accumulation of flavonoids in various organs in the content of endogenous copper has no protective nature. These data, along with data about the content ratio of the endogenous and exogenous copper, lead to the conclusion that the Korzhinsky licorice plants act as “excluders” towards copper. Also the index and formula of antioxidant status is proposed to describe the total antioxidant activity of flavonoids accumulating plants.
