Abstract

Modern researches of properties of regional elites mainly include analysis of the political and economic factors that affect the processes of elites’ genesis. Geographic components of the process of elite formation are not considered. Geographical factors and conditions along with other factors influence the formation and properties of regional elites. Economic and geographical studies of the regional elites include determination of the role and significance of geographical conditions and factors affecting the properties of the regional elites, the extent of their impact on the processes of formation, development and functioning of the regional elites, the interaction between elites of regions and the federal center. The research of the regional elites using geographical methods allows to reveal patterns and distinctive features of the processes of formation, development and functioning of the regional elites based on the characteristics of the territorial organization of the society, including territorial structural features of social stratification and differentiation in the distribution of the available natural, human, financial and material resources.
