Abstract

Тhe Russian phraseological units characterizing human mental abilities are considered in the article. Mind and intellectual abilities are those inner qualities by which a human can be appreciated. These phraseological units contain an assessment of mental actions and status of the subject. The author attempts to describe, systematize and analyze similarities and differences of figurative components in the phraseological system of the Russian language. Nuclear and peripheral units of the studied field are analyzed. The study of phraseological units with the meaning of “intellectual abilities” allows one to identify and compare national vision of the human person - the bearer of knowledge, the specifics of his mental actions and states.
